Mr. McCord was born on Jan. 11, 1939, in Daingerfield, the son of Willie E. McCord and Irene Mars McCord. He was a retired Master Sergeant from the United States Air Force, and a retired hospital administrator. He was formerly the chairman of the board for Texas Organization of Rural and Community Hospitals; a charter member and president of the Hospital Home Health Association and served on the board of directors of the Texas Hospital Association for many years. He was a Baptist. He is survived by his wife, Joan McCord of Omaha; two sons and a daughter-in-law, Steve and Trisha McCord of Henrietta and Eric McCord of Tyler; one stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Mike and Wendy Connelly of Salt Lake City, Utah; three stepdaughters and two stepsons-in-law, Shana and Patrick Toomey of Fredericksburg and Sherri and Darrell Fletcher of Richardson, and Julie Connelly of Bountiful, Utah; 21 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren; and one brother, Sammy McCord of Pasadena; and one sister, Marilee Shaw of Lone Star; and numerous other relatives. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Veronica Sherrill McCord; his parents; and two sisters, Merle Shaw and Virginia Smith. Memorials may be made to the International Myeloma Foundation.
